06-30-10: 10-Clutch-04 Lily laid 5 eggs! She rocks, this the 3rd year in a row for eggs. Here is to more albinos!
06-17-10: 10-Clutch-01 Minny's first clutch is hatching! Preliminary findings look like 3 pastels and 2 normals!
One egg ended up dieing two weeks into incubation. It was one of the two she kicked out.
06-9-10: 10-Clutch-03 Ella laid 5 eggs! She was with both Tobey (Pastel) and my breeder Spider here is hoping for our first bumblebee!
All Eggs look great!
05-10-10: 10-Clutch-02 Kira's first clutch and our 2nd of the season was laid. 4 eggs, she was coiled around 3. She was with both Tobey (Pastel) and my breeder Spider here is hoping for our first bumblebee!
They all look great!
04-22-10: 10-Clutch-01 Checked on Minny and saw her first clutch and our first clutch of the '10 season!
She was with both Tobey (Pastel) and my breeder Spider so it will be interesting what we get when they hatch. 6 eggs, 4 of which she was coiled around and kicked 2 out. Will monitor the 2 closely.
09-21-09: My dad came down from PA to watch me race in a Triathlon and while he was down here we built a new incubator! It is amazing and a far cry from my little cooler.
The dimensions are 4' x 23" x 23". It can hold about 6 shelves with 2 clutches on them so that is 12 clutches. I am still working out the temperature issues on each shelf but here are some pics.
It is made out of 3/4" plywood except for the top and back, those are out of 1/4" plywood. We put 1/4" pip insulation in it then covered that up with shower board.
We sealed everything with silicone and painted the outside flat black. I had a 3' helix radiant heat panel not being used so that is what's heating it. The thermostat is a herpstat.
I need to hook up a couple of fans and do a lot more testing to see if I can get the temps stable but this thing rocks! I have plenty of time to work out all of the bugs and get this thing stable.
09-14-09: Well sold all of the het males. I sold them all locally for a crazy low price of $15 each. I just wanted them to go to good homes so off they went!
I received an '07 breeder male spider from Joe Ellis locally! I am going to breed him and my pastel to all of my normals this year, hopefully I get some good odds.
The original buyer backed out of the albino sale but I found somebody locally and they bought her!
08-30-09: A local guy bought one of my het albino males and is doing a payment plan for the Albino! I also updated the normal page in my collection to add a new aquisition Dalila.
08-21-09: Haven't updated in a long time. I am sure nobody really even reads this but it lets me document things. Charlie bred Lily this season and he did a great job for his first season! We got 5 awesome eggs and they all hatched. 2 female albinos and 3 het albino males. Check out the available page.
09-20-08: Well I sold all of my hatchlings for the year. I ended up selling or trading everything locally so I only had to ship Sevan my adult het for Albino. This was my first snake I had to ship so I was a little nervous. It ended up being a great experience. I shipped through www.repster.com and everything went smoothly. I highly recommend them.
The female pastel I held back still has yet to eat. After she eats I will take some pics of her. The Mojave and Yellow Bellies are doing great and so are the 2 female 66% het for Albinos I held back. Check out the collection page for new pics of everybody.
09-04-08: It has been awhile since I updated.
So my 2nd clutch ever hatched on 08-25. The plan was to keep all of the female pastels. Well the final ratio was 3.0 normals and 2.2 pastels but 1 female pastel died in the egg. She was so pretty but I guess these are the ups and downs of breeding I keep hearing about.
On another note I ended up finding a local breeder around here and traded my male albino I hatched out for 1.0 mojave and 1.1 yellow belly. I am slowly building up my collection!
Well this marks the end of my first hatching season. It was and still is an awesome experience. Now I have to worry about getting the hatchlings started on eating and selling them to make a little bit of cash to feed the rest of my collection. Next year should be even more fun!
The available page has been updated with pics and stats of all available hatchlings.
08-12-08: 4 of the 5 eggs from Lily hatched. 1 died full term. He was upside down and suffocated. I got my first albino! I have waited 3 years for this. The albino is a male so I won't be keeping him but this was an awesome experience. The available page is updated with the 2 that I am selling.
06-27-08: My 2nd and final clutch of the season arrived. Ella laid 7 eggs! She was with both Sevan and Dez so there is a possibility of the offspring on being het albino but I won't sell them that way. I plan on keeping any female pastels so cross your fingers!
06-05-08: My First EGGS!!!!!! We are so excited. Lily was coiled around 4 big white veiny eggs! I found another one when cleaning the cage that she must have kicked out so there are 5 total. I didn't get a chance to weigh them but I candled them all and they look awesome. 1 like I said was kicked out by her and 1 rolled when uncoiling her so we will monitor those closely.
05-26-08: Website best viewed in Firefox. Just realized it looks kind of funky in IE. Still trying to figure out why.
02-15-08: So I just sold my first snake! I decided to try to sell Syd because I have Tobey and very limited space. I sold him locally to Chuck Cardell, thanks Chuck! Oh and thanks to Chuck, he pointed out a bunch of typos across my site which have since been fixed.
01-30-08: So I gave up on Syd for this year. I am really upset because he is such a pretty pastel. Tobey is just too young to breed as he just sits in the corner worse then Syd. So I threw Ella in with my 7 year old strictly pet normal male and BAM got a lock! I am excited but still upset that I won't have the oppurtunity to get a super pastel this year.
01-29-08: Launched new redesign of site. Still under Construction though. I hated my old design and like this one a lot better. There will be a lot of changes in the coming weeks. Hope you like it, let me know if you do.
01-17-08: Purchased an '06 Female spider. I ultimately want to produce bumblebees so I will pair her up with one of my male pastels. I purchased her from Kim and Matt at NARC
12-22-07: My wonderful GF got me an albino ball for Christmas! By far the best Christmas ever. Tina purchased Charlie from Critters LTD.
12-22-07: Lily and Sevan are locked up for the 3rd time. Sevan never fails, everytime I put these 2 together they lock. Heres hoping for my fist clutch.
12-12-07: Launched eXtensive snakes website. I wanted to start a web site dedicated to my snakes and to offer quality captive born Ball Pythons to the public.
